Proof, filed properly
Students turned their campus library into a working digital twin.
Augment sponsored a course at Georgia Tech in 2024, and again in 2025. It was taught on a real building — the Price Gilbert Memorial Library, a key building on campus. This file is the account of what the students did to it.

Context
Leonardo García is Augment's Chief Digitization Officer and a Georgia Tech alumnus. He returned to the university as a part-time lecturer, and on his initiative Augment sponsored the course he taught: a hands-on class on emerging technologies in facility and construction management.

The problem
The course set out to bridge theory and practice. It covered a range of advanced tools — BIM, robotics, drones, AI-powered software — and practice needs a building to happen on. It was given one: the Price Gilbert Memorial Library, a key building on campus, served as the live case study.

The work
Students carried out the digitization themselves. They captured the library with laser scanning and photogrammetry to produce 3D models, and the models went into Wiretwin as operational digital twins. Occuspace sensors were added, and real-time occupancy appeared as heatmaps inside the model the students had built.

The outcome
The course ran twice, in 2024 and 2025, the second year on updated tools. Students left it having measured a real building, modeled it and watched it in use — and having seen firsthand how technology can improve space utilization, maintenance planning and building operations.
